Drawing and Talking
We are fortunate to be working closely with Beam Wellbeing and Sarah comes to our school every Tuesday to support a selection of our children.
Drawing and Talking sessions are a gentle, non-intrusive method of working with children who need a little help to support their emotional and learning needs.
Sarah Vugler, an Advanced Practitioner from Beam Wellbeing, works with our children for one 45-minute session every week for twelve weeks in a 1:1 scenario. Sometimes, we find that children benefit from group or family sessions too and we accommodate this when it is needed.
Each session is held on a Tuesday and will be in a quiet space where they will not be disturbed. The sessions remain confidential to the therapist and the children and the pictures that are drawn are stored in their Drawing and Talking folder. Sarah keeps the folder safe until the child’s final session, when they will take the folder of work home.
We allow the children privacy with these pictures as they are part of their therapeutic journey but they are welcome to share them with their families if they wish to. The pictures belong to the child and it needs to be their choice as to whether they want to share them with you or not; please do respect that with your child.
